Jade Cocoon 2 Complete Edition V2Description

Don’t think this is gonna be a 100% Gold Remake, it’ll have its differences. Extra battles (some’ll be optionals, tough but rewarding), Hoenn Pokemon (in every area, and hard to find) New areas, Remapped some dungeons (so your old guides wont work) , Extra recurring characters (some’ll hate you, some’ll help you)

Note that the hack is incomplete but feel free to enjoy the hack as-is.

Jade Cocoon 2 Complete Edition FINAL (USA NTSC, PAL, NTSC JAP)

What's New!!!!

The earth type beast "Dumbler" was correctly renamed to "Ribbeton". This was necessary because one of the new seed beasts should correctly be named "Dumbler".

Spikeyfish's larvalize ability lasts 1 extra turn. This also applys when Levant uses it against your beasts.

You will fight Niloper instead of Geloper in the one of the early water forests and earn Niloper's cocoon instead. You were automatically given Geloper's ability power snatch at the start of the game so it was not necessary to earn Geloper's cocoon. There is a beast walking around one of the early water levels using Niloper's power steal instead of Geloper's power snatch. Look for him on that level. NOTE: if you already beat Geloper before these codes/patch you will NOT be able to go back and get him. There is an optional 2 codes in the codes text file to allow you to purchase the Niloper cocoon in Earth Erosion 4 if you would still like to get it.

The other missing seed beasts (Ginunga (ragulia), Bladetail (psycho snatch), Niralhorn (selahmnite) ) are now purchasble from the Earth shops (before the dark forest). Spikeyfish's larvalize cocoon is available before the dark forest also in the Barren Earth 2 shop for 600Y so you can use it in the last fight. The other 4 new ones are purchasable in the Earth Crystal 2 shop (after the dark forest).

2 new eggs:

Deprolcoch (Alco) - (looks similar to the mechalcoch evolutions) - Looks like an airpline bird in its last evolution like mechalcoch.

Deradrackich (Drac) - this the drac you fight in the higher fire levels and in the arena (red snake type drac in last evolution).

5 new seed beasts:

Dumbler (last evolution of a detinach) - Has Arpatron's (blue dragon with Levant) attack of water barrier which affects all members on the active side of the beast amulet.

Casadero (last evolution of a dueleifich) - has Lilith's kick-arse attack Dark Impact which affects all 8 beasts on the beast amulet.

Passelon (2nd evolution of a dicedrakich) with Levant's attack Seal. Has the advantage over ad muhls type spells since the beasts can't use anandia or resurrect books during battle to revive them. Affects only one enemy at a time and has a small chance of success.

Reylon (last evolution of a dicedrakich) with Levant's attack Rage chance.

Spikeyfish (1st evolution of a detinach). Has Lilith's attack larvalize which leaves a beast in its larva state for a few rounds. It has a small chance of success. It works on Lilith's kalma sidekicks since they evolve each round. You would have to merge it with a beast that is not Pragmatic: Attacks center enemy/master or Brave: Attacks the enemy with the highest (max) HP. It is only useful for that last fight during regular gameplay. It will ALWAYS miss on all other beasts. It also works in the battle arena outside the regular game (where you have the option to start a new game, continue, etc.)

All 4 kalma eggs (earth, water, wind and fire) and the "drakich" egg (which Cure usually gives you after the final battle) are now synthesizable from the plants. They are of the very rare type like whiskerach and chinbugich. You must use any EGG as the FIRST item and a RARE item as the SECOND item (I recommend hellfire books).

The ogrevines in the dark forest now contain boss fights for the above 3 missing and 5 new seed beasts with the part 2 codes/patch. However, they replace the boss fights for Shroomie, Froggess, Giralooza, Amorg, Dela Getchu, Dela Yo-Yo, Sembone and Ela Ela. With the part 2 codes option, you can exit the ogrevine, save and unload codes to fight against the original ones or have the codes on to fight the new ones. Since these are boss fights, you will not be getting their cocoon after the fight. As mentioned above they are purchasble in the Earth forest shops.

Two methods of testing:

Method 1

Download alcohol 120%

http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

Install and open it up.

Click on "Image making wizard". Put your PS2 DVD-ROM in the DVD drive. Click NEXT. Click Start.

or

Download DVD Decrypter

http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/

1. Click on mode then iso then read
2. Click on the folder icon and choose where to save.
3. Put the Jade cocoon 2 dvd in your pc dvd/-rw drive
4. Click on the green arrow (decrypt button).

After it is finished making the iso, check and make sure the iso/mdf file size is

USA: 2.88 GB (3,099,557,888 bytes)
PAL: 2.91 GB (3,130,392,576 bytes)
JAP: 2.98 GB (3,200,319,488 bytes)

I created the USA and JAP isos with alcohol 120% and created mds/mdf files. The PAL version had an extension of iso and I am not sure what program was used to make it. If the file size does not match, try using the other program mentioned above. Apply patch to the file with the extension .mdf or extension .iso.

Extract the folder ppf-o-matic. Click on the ppf-o-matic3.exe and click on the floppy disk icon (next to iso) and choose your iso you just made above.

Extract the part 1 file for your region (e.g. USApart1.PPF) and click on the floppy disk icon (next to patch) and choose this file. Then click apply then quit. Note you can undo this patch after sucessfully burning the dvd by clicking on "Apply-undo-patch-data" beforehand.

Now you have two options:
1. Apply the part 2 patch in the same manner as above. You will always fight the new/missing ones in the dark forest.

2. Use the part 2 codes instead of the patch so you can turn off the codes so you can fight against Shroomie, Froggess, Giralooza, Amorg, Dela Getchu, Dela Yo-Yo, Sembone and Ela Ela.

Burn with alcohol 120%.

Install and open it up.

Click on "Image burning wizard". Click browse and choose the iso you made above. Make sure "delete image file after recording" is NOT checked. Click NEXT. Make sure simulation is NOT checked. Click Start.

Play the DVD you just burned with the way you play backups.

Method 2:

Use a cheat device (all codebreakers, all AR MAX, gameshark2 V1/2/3/4 ONLY - Codebreaker 9.x recommended) with the original JC2 USA/pAL/JAP gamedisc. You will be inputting a lot of codes. See rawcodes.txt for your region for more information.

Known Bugs:

-After Deprolcoch & Deradrakich evolve into 1nd, 2nd, & 3rd evolutions:
If they are on your beast amulet when you save, when you choose continue to load the game you will notice that each creature's icon on the load screen is not on a pedastal and/or is missing the purple background like all the other beasts on your beast amulet. In addition, when both are in their final form their icons are a distorted color on the load screen.

- Deprolcoch in its 2nd evolution appears high compared to the other beasts on the beast amulet.

- When hatching Deradrakich with an imago skill, graphic slows down after egg hatches but does NOT freeze.

- When using Seal or larvalize on the beast amulet the color code may appear gray instead of green for earth.

- When the larvalize skill is successful, the graphic sometimes shows a blank colored background (beast amulet disappears). Usually happens on the lower evolved forms.

I'd like to thank Fez_Fury from the Gamefaqs forum for his initial codes & offsets. This inspired me to continue his work. Without this, the complete edition would have never been made. He disappeared from the Jade Cocoon 2 forum before I even got on. He has no idea I created this from his initial work. I'd also like to thank jim_reaper95 from the Gamefaqs forum for his testing on the PAL version and aeonlord_7551 for his PAL shop offset value before I could get a copy of the PAL version.
