Atari Lynx remains one of the most desirable handheld gaming devices. It was the first to feature a colored display and advanced graphics capabilities. The device used a 16-bit processor and was relatively fast back at a day. Atari Lynx was released in 1989 in the United States and Canada. It was released on the following year in Europe and several other places in the world. Besides the powerful display, the device had intuitive and modern design for the day.
The biggest rivals were Game Boy, Game Gear, and Turbo Express. Compared to them, Atari Lynx was less popular yet more advanced. It was sold in over 3 million units and all of them used ROM cartridge for media. The famous display had 160x120 pixel resolution. Atari Lynx was available on the open market until 1996 when the manufacturing process was ended. Today, it is one of rare devices that has a high value among collectors.
